PuTien (莆田) at VivoCity

PuTien (莆田) specializes in Heng Hwa cuisine and I have been patronizing this restaurant for several years already but strangely I don’t recall having taken any photos previously. Hmm….must have been too busy eating and forgot!… LOL…

PUTIEN “Ca Fen” (农家擦粉) – This probably would be on some people’s lists of “comfort food” as it reminds one of home-cooked mee sua soup and it really warms your stomach like how a nice piping hot bowl of congee would. Tasty!!

PUTIEN Mee Sua (妈祖面线) – My all-time favourite dish at this restaurant!! What else can I say about it? It’s absolutely delicious!!! Hahaha…

Claypot Chicken in Fermented Red Rice Wine (砂锅红糟鸡) – The taste of the fermented red rice wine was rather strong and you could still feel the alcohol in it which had a slight hint of bitterness. It wasn’t too bad but I think I still prefer the Foochow version.

Putian Loquat in Herbal Jelly (薄荷枇杷冻) – My colleagues ordered this and they said the loquat was sour but the herbal jelly was sweet. I guess you’ll need to eat both together in order to strike a balance?

Pumpkin Cream with Ice-Cream (南瓜露) – The description on the menu states “Cream of pumpkin with coconut ice-cream, further enlivened with pulot hitam and grated peanuts”. I was expecting a thick pumpkin cream but this was a watery version which was surprisingly quite refreshing and went very well with the ice-cream, pulot hitam (black glutinous rice) and peanuts.
