I had previously eaten at Shin Yeh (欣葉) in Taipei about 8 years ago and thought it was expensive. It’s opened a branch in Singapore in partnership with the Tung Lok Group and I still find it expensive! Haha….
At the entrance to the restaurant:
We were first served with pickled cucumber which was thickly sliced and initially I thought they would be extremely sour but actually they were quite nice! It was the perfect combination of saltiness and sourness – salty cos the pickles were in soy sauce.
Prawn with Pineapple – This is quite nice and makes for a good starting dish. However, after getting halfway through the dish, you start to get the feeling that it is rather sweet! The pineapple slices were sweet and the sauce is also on the sweet side.
X.O. Sauce Tofu with Pak Choy – This was a little spicy and the sauce had bits of dried scallop in it.
Panfried Oyster Omelette – Probably the most expensive version of this dish that I’ve eaten!! This serving costs $14++.
Fried Rice Noodle with Pumpkin – The stock used for the noodles was flavourful and made the dish very fragrant! I thoroughly enjoyed this noodle dish!!
We were plesantly surprised when we were served with this complimentary dessert of Glutinous Rice Balls coated with peanut powder.
The entire meal (for 2 persons) cost $94.15 (incl. tax) and it felt like a big hole had been burnt in our pockets!! Don’t think I’ll be back for awhile since it is rather expensive for the type of food being served!
