Antoinette at Penhas Road

Found this shop in the middle of an old housing estate and surrounded by old commercial buildings. The decor of the shop seems too posh when compared with its surroundings. I decided to give myself an after-dinner treat and stopped by this place…

Couldn’t resist trying the colourful macarons which were displayed at the counter!

Selected 4 out of the 5 bestsellers in the shop…
Charlotte (pink) – vanilla cream with strawberry coulis
Chloe (orange) – citrus yoghurt and yuzu flavoured, the taste was quite interesting
Praline (brown) – this contained hazelnuts
Antoinette (speckled) – milk chocolate earl grey tea ganache with raspberry confiture

AntoinetteEarl Grey ice cream with raspberry jelly and milk chocolate shards

The flavour of the earl grey ice cream was too strong for my liking but the chocolate was nice.

L’amourRose petal ice cream with raspberry swirl, rose meringue and lychee pieces

The rose petal ice cream was nice and had a light fragrance which was pleasing to the palate. I was glad that it wasn’t overpowering and I loved the lychee bits which came with the ice cream. However, I felt that the rose meringue which was dusted with icing sugar was simply too sweet!! You’ll really need to have a super sweet tooth to enjoy it! LOL…

Verdict:
I found the desserts too sweet but if you are game for a sugar rush, you might enjoy them!
Love the macarons though!!
