KISSes Cupcakes at Gough Street

This little shop specializes in cupcakes with a variety of flavours including milo and lychee but they only have a limited selection of flavours available per day. I was hoping to try the lychee flavoured one but it wasn’t one of those being sold that day.

The lady behind the counter told me that their cupcakes are both low in fat and sugar so you don’t need to feel guilty about eating them!

This resulted in my purchase of several flavours which included its two bestsellers – Red Velvet and Triple Chocolate.

Red Velvet (top row middle) – Varlhona chocolate cake with silky cream cheese buttercream
The icing on top was really smooth and had the faintest hint of cheese. It was quite tasty and the chocolate cake was good.

Triple Chocolate (extreme right) – Varlhona chocolate cake, topped with silky chocolate buttercream and infused with rich chocolate ganache
The chocolate cream was a little bitter probably due to dark chocolate being used. It was nice but after several bites I started to feel like I had an overdose of cream. :p

Toasted Almond (extreme left) – Brown sugar cake topped with tasty almond buttercream and toasted almond slices
This was the only cupcake out of those which I bought, where the cake was yellowish brown in colour and I could taste coconut in it. The combination of almond bits with the icing made it feel just right – like there wasn’t too much cream in it.

Ferrero Rocher (bottom row middle) – Varlhona chocolate cake with a Ferrero-center topped with studded ferrero-hazelnut chocolate buttercream
My personal favourite! The combination of the topping and the chocolate cake was simply delicious!!

Out of the 4 flavours which I had tried, here’s how I will rank them based on personal preference:
(1) Ferrero Rocher
(2) Red Velvet
(3) Triple Chocolate
(4) Toasted Almond

I don’t like cakes that are too sweet so the ones here are done just right. You can give me the Ferrero Rocher ones anyday… 😀
