From now until 24th Feb 2013, special Chinese New Year set menus are available at Hollywood China Bistro.
My hubby and I decided to try the set for two persons (喜气洋洋2人套餐). As Chinese New Year only starts on 10th Feb, we received quite a few stares from the people seated at the tables around us when we were tossing the yu sheng!
Here’s a look at what we ate…
Prosperity Salmon Yu Sheng (三文鱼鱼生) – This was nice as it had the right combination of condiments and sauces, which were neither too sweet nor too sour. The raw slices of salmon were fresh and of the right thickness.
Soup of the Day (是日例汤) – I’m not sure how many varieties of soups they have (i.e. referring to “soup of the day”) but we were served with lotus root & pork rib soup and you can tell from its aroma and flavour that it had been boiled for a long time. Even the chinese almonds and red dates were quite soft and didn’t need much chewing.
Wok-fried Prawns Coated with Salted Egg Yolk Paste (咸香虾球) – We were presented with 4 plump and delectable morsels which were fresh and quite springy when you bit into them. I love salted egg yolk and I felt it would have been better if the prawns had been coated with a bit more sauce! ^_^
Braised Ee Fu Noodles with Mushrooms (干烧伊面) – The noodles were delicious and had a nice texture.
Chilled Honeydew Sago Cream (蜜瓜西米露) – It was quite a refreshing dessert but the cream was a little orangey in colour so I wondered if rock melon was used too?
Although there weren’t many courses in the 2-person set, it was actually very filling! The food is quite tasty and I would recommend this if you want a nice relaxing lunch at the park.
Note: Hollywood China Bistro is located inside Universal Studios Singapore and park admission is required in order to dine at the restaurant.
