Rahim Muslim Food

Known for their special “Mee Rebus Power!”, Rahim Muslim Food has been opened since the 1960s and their secret recipes have been passed down through two generations.

They were previously located at Kovan Centre’s Ah Seah Eating House, then at 789A Upper Serangoon Road, but have since moved to Blk 721, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8, beside Jubilee. This is their fifth relocation since they first opened.

Mee Rebus – Don’t panic if you can’t find “Mee Rebus Power!” on their menu. If you order the “Mee Rebus”, it’s actually their famous dish which has an additional satay sauce poured over it. I must say that the satay sauce does gives it an extra kick, otherwise it just tastes like ordinary mee rebus to me. Don’t get me wrong – the mee rebus itself without the satay sauce is still good and its gravy has a thick enough consistency. You can opt to add chicken to your mee rebus (which I did) and you’ll get quite a big piece of steamed chicken (like the steamed chicken typically found in chicken rice) placed on top of the noodles and topped with gravy and the satay sauce.

Satay – Satay lovers will be happy to know that this is available during lunch, unlike most other stalls which only sell this for dinner. Chicken, beef and mutton satay is being sold here but on my recent visit, only chicken and mutton were available at lunchtime. There is a minimum order of 10 sticks.

The tender pieces of meat were well marinated and the sauce had lots of chunky peanut bits in it. I enjoyed it but my hubby prefers the satay from one of the stalls at Satay by the Bay.
